National Dance Company Wales is coming to town for the first time under its new name to perform a thrilling triple bill on September 23.
The dancers, formerly known as Diversions, are heading to The Everyman as part of an international tour that will include performances in China, London and Edinburgh.
Artistic director Ann Sholem has commissioned the dances from three distinctive international choreographers.
Set against the reality of post-wartime Britain, Nigel Charnock’s Lunatic shimmers with the moonlit glamour and romance of 1940s and 50s music.
Hinterland is the creation of company founder Roy Campbell-Moore.
The beautiful work is lyrical and poetic, with flowing costumes and atmospheric colour-schemes.
Greek choreographer Andonis Foniadakis’ has specially created an inspiring new work that focuses on his hallmark technical virtuosity and fluidity.
“The three productions make a terrific programme of elegant, bold and beautiful dance,” Ann said.
“I am also looking forward to meeting audiences old and new when we make our first visit to Cheltenham under our new name that reflects the excellence, pride and dynamism of the company.”
The company travels to China next month and will perform in the cities of Kunming, Chengdu and Chongqing.
