Real ale festival

Friday 6th June 2008

Real ale fans will be heading to the 5th Bitton Beer Festival this weekend.

Opening on Friday (June 6) at the Avon Valley Railway at Bitton Station, the popular event draws real ale devotees from far and wide.

Aaron Stone, Avon Valley Railway’s catering manager, said: “One of the big attractions is the fact that we make no entry charge.

“This year we are hosting 30 ales from around the country – plus a range of ciders. The beers include a number from local breweries who have loyally supported us each year.”

A large covered bar area – aptly named The Railway – is the centre for the festival.

Ale vouchers priced at £1.25 per half-pint can be purchased each day at the station booking office. The station buffet will be open during the day, with a barbecue on Friday and Saturday evenings.

Mr Stone said: “It’s a wonderfully relaxing way to enjoy good beer surrounded by the nostalgia of a railway at a country station.”

The Bitton Beer Festival runs from 6pm to 9pm on Friday, noon to 8pm on Saturday and noon to 5pm on Sunday.
